My girlfriend Daryl who has the fabulous blog UnButtoningPants.com shared this easy pita chip recipe with me, while I found this hummus recipe on CookingLight.com {only 39 calories!!}. Bake up these chips to serve at your next app-friendly soiree or take them with you as the perfect on-the-go snack {watch out Stacy’s Pita chips, you have some competition!}
Home-made Pita Chips:
Ingredients:
- 4 whole wheat pitas
- 4 tablespoons of Olive Oil
- 4 teaspoons of Sea Salt
- 4 teaspoons of Oregano
- 4 teaspoons of Parsley
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Slice your pita bread like a pizza. Disperse the pitas on 2 baking sheets. Sprinkle the pita with all of the remaining ingredients. Bake for 10 minutes.
Hummus:
Ingredients:
- 2 (15.5-ounce) cans no-salt-added chickpeas (garbanzo beans), rinsed and drained
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed [optional]
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup tahini (sesame seed paste)
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Directions:
Place beans and garlic in a food processor; pulse 5 times or until chopped. Add 1/2 cup water and remaining ingredients; pulse until smooth, scraping down sides as needed. Serve in a small bowl and garnish with parsley.
