Two weeks ago my husband and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary! {Watch our amazing wedding video here, catch the sweet recap of our first anniversary here, and swoon over the pics from our second anniversary at the Gansevoort Turks and Caicos here.} We always love todo something extra special for the occasion but since we are moving so soon we thought it would be best to stay in the city and have a luxurious staycation this time around. Deciding that a change of scenery from our usual Flatiron location would be nice, we headed uptown to the Ritz Carlton that overlooks Central Park.
Upon checking into the room we were floored by the thought that went into our stay. We had told the hotel in advance that we would be celebrating our anniversary but we didn’t think that much of it. We showed up to the most gorgeous display of Moet & Chandon Rosé Champagne, macarons, a photo of us from our New York Times Wedding Announcement, and even a hand written card. Talk about top notch hospitality. We immediately got to business and popped the champagne, admiring our views of Central Park out our window as we sipped and listened to music.
That night we went to dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Auden Bistro & Bar where we were seated in a quaint corner table {I love sitting next to my husband at restaurants rather than across… so much more romantic}. We ordered the kale and goat cheese salad, grilled veal chop, filet of beef and a side of heavenly chorizo mac & cheese. We laughed harder than we’ve laughed in months, we reminisced about the days before kids, and we talked about how different life will be once we make our big move. Although stuffed to the brim, we still managed to finish off the last of the macarons before falling into the deepest {un-interupted by small children} sleep that lasted 10 hours. We both needed it!
The perfect ending to our trip was a lavish room service breakfast in bed {eaten in robes of course}. We snuck in one last walk through Central Park admiring the endless spring blossoms before heading back to reality where our kids awaited us with open arms. Re-charged and still full, we were glad to check off another bucket list item before leaving the city to the South.
