Brooks’s RH Room Makeover
with RH Baby & Child
Jan 5, 2017
Well guys, Brooks’s big boy room is finished thanks to RH Baby & Child!! I can’t stop talking about how amazing their design services was right down to the finishing touches… the experience combined with the outcome is better than I could have imagined.
Remember I had my in-home consultation, my in-store design meeting, so the final step was installation day!! In case you forgot what his old room looked like, check out the before in this FH post.
First we chose “Cashmere Grey” as the new color for the walls. It’s a great grey…. so neutral, a great backdrop for any space, and looks amazing contrasted to the white bed. By swapping from baby blue to grey, the room instantly felt more grown up. Next up — the cabin bed. I mean, I can’t even begin to tell you how much Brooks loves this bed. I was worried going from a crib to a bed would be a tough transition and a few sleepless nights but this bed was everything. For one, he couldn’t wait to hop right in {I mean, wouldn’t you!?} and two, I have no concern of him falling out because the walls have him safely enclosed!!
For bedding we went with all organic in a sea of greys. A fluffy duvets, sheets, and a few decorative pillows {the Mali Print Ultra-Fine Organic Cotton Lines Bedding Collection}. I was first in love because it was organic, but when I touched the bedding and felt how soft it was, it was a done deal! Also I am a sucker for anything embroidered, so I love that we put his name on an accent pillow.
On to the shelving. In Brooks’s room before, we had one little bookshelf that was over-crowded with books, so I wanted plenty of space to display books, toys, and pictures. So the RH team recommended I place matching bookshelves {the Laguna Bookcases from RH Teen} on either side of the bed for maximized storage. Now we need more books! Haha. Above the shelves they hung two papier-mΓ’chΓ© sharks.
Because we love to read books before bed, I still wanted a cozy rocker for the room, so they RH team chose this swivel glider with a small floor lamp. Then how cute is the industrial “TOYS” bin beside it. We filled with it throw blankets – this one is monogrammed and so many of the RH plush stuffed animals.
Across from Brooks’s cabin bed is a 6 drawer dresser {the Laguna Wide Dresser from RH Teen} with an iron and rope mirror above it and two sconces. I was so amazing by these sconces because they don’t require junction boxes, but rather just need a plug! So cool right!!
Then Brooks loves to do little crafts in his room so the RH team created a sitting area with a small round play table, two metal chairs, and a huge pin board behind it. Literally everyone who has visited says the same thing “Omg those steel chairs are awesome, I want them in my size” which actually RH does sell, haha! It’s so cute though that after he finishes his scribbles he can proudly hang them up!
The icing on the cake were the little starry string lights that they strung over the bed and the pin board. With several settings we can have them twinkling, on, or even on a timer! At night Brooks love to use them as his nightlight… it feels magical.
