For some time now I have had on my bucket list to update a spare room we have on our house’s first level. So when my in-laws told us they were planning to visit this Spring, I thought this would be the perfect deadline to give myself to get this room looking fresh and new.
The more I thought about the space, the more I realized that the room was the perfect space for a guest room. Away from the kids and the commotion, close the garage for an easy exit, and with it’s own bathroom, it was everything a guest could need. Then looking a bit closer at the space, I knew there were some changes that I could make that would have a huge impact… there was a wall of old built-ins that served no purpose (lost space), poor lighting, and mix of old unused furniture. I knew if we knocked out the old-built-ins there would be an opportunity to add space to the room, and once there was enough space, I could swap this tiny twin bed for a luxurious king size, making the room ideal for two guests to sleep comfortably. The lighting could be fixed with a new beautiful fixture, and the furniture would clearly all need to be replaced. My task was set.
Now let me start by sharing a few before’s of the room… eek! Be scared…
Alright, so it’s very unimpressive, I know…
In terms of decor (and I am obsessed with how the room ultimately came out), I had to get everything new and I will go into more detail on what I chose in my next post, the “reveal,” because today I want to focus on one huge decision we had to make, which was what bed to go with for the space. Now let me tell you my husband is a mattress snob and he gets it from his father (ie. the in-laws that we are re-doing this room for!), so the pressure was on. We needed the room to be as comfortable as possible and that means an amazing mattress. Ultimately we chose the Sapira Mattress from Leesa and OMG we hit the jackpot; it is HEAVENLY!! The Sapira mattress combines Leesa’s premium foam layers with pocket-spring coils for superior support.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, Leesa is a direct-to-consumer online mattress brand that is also socially conscious. Driven by the mission to provide “A Better Place To Sleep for Everybody”, Leesa donates one mattress to a shelter for every ten they sell through their One-ten program (over 27,000 mattresses donated so far!). Leesa also plants one tree for every mattress sold and donates 1% of each employee’s time to volunteer for local causes. Needless to say, it’s a feel good buy!
Unboxing the Leesa Mattress is easy (with a strong someone to assist you!), just position, unwrap, and allow to expand!
Leesa’s patented Universal Adaptive Feel™ is designed for all types of sleepers and features 3 premium foam layers: 2-inch Avena foam top layer for cooling and breathabilit, 2-inch memory foam middle layer for body contouring and pressure relief, and 6-inch dense core support foam for durability and structure for sleepers of all sizes. And best of all, the mattresses are American-made! Want to shop for everything in one place?
