I am excited to reveal another room in the #TNChateauFH, the Guest Bedroom. Because we have so many friends and family members coming to visit the new house it was important to me to create a guest room that was bright, inviting, incredibly cozy, and possibly make them never want to leave {ahem, I am speaking to you, mom!}. Thankfully the room was in pretty good shape when we arrived {it was the one bedroom we didn’t have to re-carpet}, so the key factors in creating the space were choosing warm whites for the walls {it previously was a dark wallpaper}, finding gorgeous and comfortable bedding {which I found at Boll & Branch}, and bringing in some “guest room friendly accent pieces” like a bench for luggage and a sitting area {which like my NYC bedroom I picked up from Inspire Q}.
To start, ripping down the dark wallpaper and replacing it with a pretty white paint immediately transformed the room. {I chose Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17 – Aura Interior, Matte Finish}. Next was the bedding, which is by a feel-good company called Boll & Branch, and I mean this because the fabric is like heaven and then the company donates proceeds to charity! The company was founded by a husband and wife team in Chatham, NJ who wanted to create a brand of home textiles that are ethically sourced, certified organic and at a great price-point (and good for the planet!). It is the world’s most fair trade and transparent linen company. Additionally, for every Boll & Branch product sold, the company donates a portion of proceeds to Not for Sale, to fight human trafficking. I chose the White/Pewter Duvet Cover set {and see the rest of the bedding details at the bottom of this post!}.
Then for furniture, you probably recognize the majority of pieces and that’s because when we upgraded to a king bed in our Master, we were able to use our old INSPIRE Q queen bed in the guest bedroom. Then since we love our INSPIRE Q end tables so much, we bought an extra pair for this room as well! The new pieces {which I love for a guest room} are the benches at the foot of the bed {INSPIRE Q Southport Linen 22-inch Metal Bench} and the small sitting area {see details below}, which is a nice place to display fresh flowers, candles, and any welcome gifts!
Lastly I wanted to make sure my guests had a good night sleep and with all the bright light I needed some serious blackouts, so I installed white blackout shades like I did in Brooks’ room by ShadeOnline.com! And there you have it, the perfect guest room!! Can’t wait to fill it with endless happy guests!!
