As I shared last week, I am so excited to be partnering with RH Baby & Child to transform Brooks’s baby nursery into a toddler room. My husband and I have been talking about how Brooks is ready for a toddler bed rather than a crib ever since he turned two, so I was thrilled when we decided to team up with RH. As I sat down to talk about Brooks and what he does in his room, I realized he really has outgrown much more than just the crib. While I loved the baby blue color on the walls I wanted to update to a grey color that would be a good fit in his room for several years {the blue was a bit more baby to me!}, and while I love the look of a leaning bookshelf, Brooks really needs a bigger shelving unit to house his favorite books – this one is way too small. Then our rocking chair is nearly four years old {and has endured two babies} and it shows {to be honest, I don’t even know that he need a rocking chair much longer!}! Lastly, I never really decorated the walls the way I had intended. Like many projects in our lives, I got started, but sort of lost ambition – whoops! On the flipside I do love the coziness of the space and I do love the light colored furniture contrasted against colored wall, so I do want to stick with that.
While I have loved designing my home, I have so many blog projects on my plate right now that I was thrilled to have the RH design team’s support with this re-design project! I am not sure if you knew but Restoration Hardware offers complimentary interior design service for RH Members. {To be an RH Member, you pay an annual $100 fee, but you receive 25% off everything you buy, plus an additional 10% off all sale items. This design service is available at every RH, RH Teen and RH Baby & Child gallery!}
On to my process thus far… For the first step, I spoke with a member of the Design Team over the phone and explained my vision. The designer asked everything from what furniture we currently have to what we would prefer to have, to what “interests” Brooks and what he likes todo in the room. The absolute best part though was the second step, the in-home design consultation. They showed up with tools to measure the space, notepads, catalogues, and swatches {paint and fabric}. I showed them pictures of the kids and showed them around the rest of my home so they understood our vibe. By the end of the meeting I felt like they totally got me! Next up, I am heading to Palm Beach to visit their gallery and see furniture selection in person! I can’t wait to share what we choose. Stay tuned for the big installation!!
Thank you to Restoration Hardware Baby & Child for sponsoring this project.
