I am so excited to partner to with Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day in celebration of “Plant Something Day”! You guys know how I love to entertain in my outdoor patio space, so when I was encouraged to incorporate more plants in the mix, I was totally up for the challenge!! In honor of “Plant Something Day”, I created a lush Spring tablescape filled with beautiful outdoor potted plants. It’s quite refreshing to know that these flowers will last long after the shoot ends!!

A little more about “Plant Something Day”… 1. It is TODAY, Friday, May 19! So whether your garden grows in a bountiful backyard garden or you are a city dweller whose version is a compact windowsill, this day celebrates laying down some roots and helping the world be a greener place.

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day is taking their celebration beyond the home; they are partnering with the American Community Gardening Association (ACGA) for the second consecutive year to encourage people to get out and plant in their own gardens and communities. For every purchase on MrsMeyers.com, from now until June 5 , $5 of every purchase (up to $10,500) will go toward the American Community Gardening Association for their efforts to support community gardening across America. Customers will ALSO receive a basil seed planting paper while supplies last.

So to celebrate in my own home, I got to work setting my table with a range of plants {and adding some new plants to the patio!}, while of course tidying up the space with some of my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products!

So what plants did I choose and how do I plan to take care of them?

First of all, I wanted plants that fell under the category “summer survivors” because it is really hot and humid here in Miami!! I know I have them under cover for my display but I plan to move the pots to the sunnier tables outside my patio post-party! I may even be adventurous and plant them! We’ll see!!

The pretty pinkish-purple flowers in the center of my table are called Angelonia and they need 6 hours or more of sun. The pretty greens next to them in the smaller pots are Livingston Daisy ‘Mezoo’ and they actually need full-time sun.

Then my personal favorites are the Bougainvillea which I placed in large pots at the base of each column on my patio. These need at least 5 hours a day of full sunlight at a minimum. More hours of direct sun is better. Oh, and an added perk!! They are virtually pest-free and disease resistant!

I got all of my plants at my local Home Depot!

I wanted to make a little something special to celebrate the day, so an over-the-top floral “naked” cake seemed like the perfect match! {Head to this post for a super easy step-by-step tutorial on how to make the cake at home!}.

Then for a few tablescape details… I chose neutral and natural hyacinth round placemats, layered under classic white plates, simple gold flatware, and acrylic water and wine glasses {similar and similar}. The finishing touch were my bright floral napkins {similar and similar}! In the backdrop, I displayed an array of aqua lanterns on my console for a bit more color!

I hope you are feeling inspired to to tackle a planting project of your own! Mrs. Meyer’s is encouraging everyone to roll up their sleeves, dig in, and exercise their green thumbs.
