Memorial Day Hostess Ideas

It’s the countdown to Memorial Day and quite honestly, it’s hard to work thinking about all the fun things we have planned. I am staying home this weekend and playing hostess for my family that’s flying in, so I wanted to share some cute party tips I plan to be whipping up throughout the weekend for an extra festive time!

Starting with dessert! First of all, this three-tiered cake is a fab dessert idea for Memorial Day. Buy two boxes of vanilla cake mix and place a 1/4 in one round cake pan, a 1/4 in a second cake pan, a 1/4 in a third cake pan, and the last 1/4 in a cupcake tin. Once the cakes have cooked and cooled, place one layer on a cake stand. Top with a whipped icing {whipped is very much suggested because it’s a bit fluffier!!}, top with another layer, frost that layer, top with the third layer, frost the top of that layer. Then place strawberries and blueberries around the top like I did! Also I took a few white spray roses from a bouquet I had, and placed them in as well! Then for the cupcakes, frost them, and top them with festive red, white, and blue sprinkles {I actually just found these star ones on Amazon- so cute, right!!}. Lastly, a festive fruit cup is refreshing on a hot day. Place strawberries and blueberries in fancy glass ice cream glasses and top with whipped cream or cool whip and sprinkles {buy in bulk here or here’s a cute similar option}!!

On to your refreshments… I love fruit infused waters, so I am all about soaking strawberries and basil, pineapple and mint, cucumber, you name it, in a drink dispenser for guests to enjoy. To make it extra special, serve your drinks in mason jars with a festive straw and fruit garnish! I bought a set of 12 “Ball” Mason Jars at Target and use them all the time {they come with lids too!}. Also, I found this cool drink dispenser that is made for infusing fruits, check it out here. Then I love anything “anchor” themed, like these fun straws, this cute candle, or this embroidered pillow!

And of course a themed cocktail is always fun! Moscow mules are so refreshing with that hint of ginger beer, so I love strawberry ones for this weekend! A really easy way to make them is to buy Splash Mixers “Moscow Mule” Mix, add Vodka, and muddled strawberries. {The best part is the mix is only 20 calories per serving!!}. Rather make your own? Check out a delicious recipe for Strawberry Moscow Mules here. Of course serve your mules in copper moscow mule mugs with a strawberry garnish.

I hope you have a fab Memorial Day Weekend!! Shop some of my favorite pieces from this post below!
