This week I teamed up with World Kitchen {the parent company to Pyrex, Corningware, Snapware, Corelle, Chicago Cutlery, i.e. all of the items you can find in your kitchen} to host an Oscar-inspired “Award-Worthy Party”. The event was held at a townhouse on the Upper East Side in NYC where we set the stage for one of the most incredible events I have hosted to date! From the displays, activities, and take-aways, our guest list of 25 bloggers and editors went home with my hostess tips, fresh flower arrangements, and gift bags galore!

Guests entered to the first level of the two story townhouse, greeted by Fashionable Hostess signature cocktails garnished with gold glitter drink stirrers. Surrounded by incredible displays of the brand’s products, guests mingled as they admired a Snapware wall, a retro sitting room filled with Vintage Charm displays, a “Bride” made of Corningware bakeware, and the most amazing tablescape adorned with Corelle’s new Market Street New York collection. Then President of the company Austin Rothbard gave opening remarks and I followed with an agenda of activities for the evening.

Next we headed to the second floor for three stations of activities, bites, and drinks. The stations included DIY flower arranging, Oscar cookie decorating, and chalkboard labeling. The guests picked from White Roses, Wax Flowers, Ranunculus, Trachelium, Parrot Tulips, Regular Tulips, and Fringe Tulips as I showed how to wrap the finished product in butcher paper and tie with a white ribbon and hangtag {the perfect hostess gift}! At the cookie station guests chose from a range of sprinkles and frostings to decorate their Oscar cookies, and at the chalkboard station guests styled their boards with sweet party notes! Throughout the stations World Kitchen shared tools to make these activities even more seamless.

With the Oscars on Sunday, I wanted to share the tips I gave to the party attendees so you too can host an “Award-Worthy Party” if you plan to host a party for the Oscars at home! See my tips below!

  1. Roll Out the Red Carpet: Whether you’re planning a whimsical celebration or an elegant evening, select a theme and weave it into everything from the décor and food to the serving ware and plates. I love the Gilded plates from Corelle because they bring in the elegance of the party. For a more fun approach to awards night, serve popcorn in one of these Vintage Charm bowls.
  2. Serve Your Nominees the Best Apps: The trick is making foods that taste delicious and are easy to eat and serve. An over-the-top cheese board is also a winner and can be assembled in advance and easily decorated with flowers, fruit, meat and different types of servings platters.
  3. Plan Fun Activities to Keep Your Guests Entertained: Have fun activities for your guests during breaks like chalkboard nomination ballots that guest can write their predictions for every award. Serve a specialty cocktail and get creative with glitter ball drink stirrers, striped straws with hashtag flags or beautiful garnishes.
  4. Be Your Own Paparazzi: Don’t forget to capture and share photos of your event – I always create hashtags for my events so people can easily share and compare each others photos! (And, if you have something event worthy, we would love to see what you come up with using hashtag #RedCarpetKitchen).
