Easter with Rachel Parcell of Pink Peonies

I am SO excited to feature today’s FH Dinner Party Guest Rachel Parcell of Pink Peonies because I have been following her for years and truly love everything she creates! Her home {which she and her husband built}, is beyond stunning… I mean, the decor is just #goals! I dare you to not go Pinterest happy on her decor page! Then on top of managing her incredibly successful business, she is the mother to two beautiful little ones, proving that a mom can in fact balance a beautiful home while having a beautiful family. This is something I strive to achieve in my everyday life and I must say Rachel has been a role model for me since well before we moved into our first home.

What you probably noticed right away though is that we have a similar love of romantic tablescapes {and crave just a bit more pink than your average gal!}. So I am thrilled to share what Rachel put together, which couldn’t be more perfectly timed with Easter right around the corner! Read on for a little interview and more details on her tablescape!

FH: Tell me a quick bio of how you came to start Pink Peonies?

Rachel: I’m Rachel Parcell from the blog Pink Peonies! I started my blog in 2010 as a hobby, before I really even knew what a blog was. I started it more as a journal for friends and family to read and keep up with my life as a newlywed. In 2011, our wedding was featured on the cover of a local wedding magazine and that’s really what kickstarted Pink Peonies. This was before the days of Instagram; Facebook was still cool and Pinterest was on the rise and everyone was pinning up a storm! A lot of my wedding images were pinned over and over again which started driving lots of traffic from all over the U.S. to my site. I noticed that young girls and women from around the country were more curious in what I was wearing than what I was doing in the images I would post about on my blog (mostly random photos of me and my husband on a date or on a vacation).

I started receiving comments on each post asking where I got my shoes, lipsticks, tops, dresses, etc. That’s what sparked the idea to start doing a dedicated shot of my entire outfit so I could share and link what I was wearing to this new audience I was gaining. A few weeks later I stumbled upon an actual ‘fashion blog’ and a whole new world opened up. It was the beginning of an incredible journey!

Since then I have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Seventeen Magazine, InStyle Magazine, StyleWatch Magazine, WWD. RewardStyle Top 5 and Top 10 blogger.

FH: What is your entertaining style? Traditional, Contemporary, Seasonal?

Rachel: Traditional with a feminine touch and a hint of glamour. I love to decorate my home for each season, but for each season you’ll find that it all has the same underlying style.

FH: How often do you entertain and for how many guests?

Rachel: My husband and I both come from large families, so entertaining is something we love to do! When we were designing our home we knew we wanted a big kitchen and dining area specifically for entertaining. Every Sunday we get together with family for dinner, and we love to throw parties around holidays (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc.). I also love to host lunches with my girlfriends, host women from my church at my home or throw bridal and baby showers for friends or family members.

FH: Do you have a go-to recipe or dish {or do you avoid cooking at all costs}?

Rachel: If I’m hosting a large group of people, like maybe a baby shower or a church function, I’ll always have it catered. I have enough to worry about making sure my home is clean (I have a toddler!!), the table is set and all the decor is in place. When I have it catered, I am involved in every detail and will always choose the menu.

If we host our friends or family for dinner I definitely have my go-to recipes! Ones that display beautifully and aren’t too complicated to cook for a large group. My favorite recipe to make are my mother-in-law’s homemade orange rolls. They are always a hit and are the first to go!

FH: Did something inspire you for today’s table? A certain color, flower, plate?

Rachel: Today’s table was actually inspired by my pillows on my two end chairs. I used these at Christmas time and I couldn’t pack them away because I love them so much! I decided to keep the rest of the color palette neutral and soft. I love how the whites and pink pair with the dark green.

FH: Table top… Share all the deets!!
