Playhouse Makeover

with Behr Paint

Playhouse Makeover DIY

Our kids have wanted a playhouse in our backyard for as long as I can remember, so I decided it would be the perfect treat to surprise them with one, especially with Spring Break and the Quarantine in place! I partnered with Behr Paint and their new Spray Paint line to take a wooden playhouse I found online and transform it into the playhouse of their dreams (and mine too). So here it is!!

See how I did the transformation from start to finish below!

Before

First I went on Amazon and bought this Victorian-style wooden playhouse by Backyard Discovery {here is a link to the house!}. I loved that it was big enough for several of my kids to play in, had a serving station and bench to play “restaurant”, and that it came with “appliances” aka a little kitchen station.

I will admit that while I recommend the house, it did require a handyman for assembly. I am sure someone handy could do it – but I was not qualified for the challenge.

Then I prepped the house for the transformation. I bought a tarp to place below the house (since we have turf in this area of our backyard) and I bought painters tape so I could cover certain parts of the house I wanted to leave as is.

I used Behr Paint’s Spray colors “White” for the house and “Inked” for the Roof and chose them both in glossy. BEHR Spray Paint is a fast-drying, paint-and-primer-in-one, which is perfect for someone who is NOT usually a DIY person, like myself!

Playhouse Accessories

After I finished spray painting my house, I went to Home Depot and got a tiny bit of the regular Behr Paint todo corners and spots I couldn’t reach (I am a perfectionist after all!). And then it was on to the fun stuff, the finishing touches!! I added an address, sconce lights, a bell, and faux flowers.

I spray painted the numbers 2,5,7 for the address (the ages of each of my kids) and attached them to the front of the house. I got these numbers at Home Depot.

On Amazon I bought little solar powered lanterns in black and even a gold bell for the entry. Then I picked up these little potted peony arrangements from Homegoods.

The Adirondack chairs alongside the house are from Pottery Barn kids.

I am blown away by how far some spray paint can go! It’s truly going to be an amazing Spring Break at home. Me and the Kids cannot wait to decorate this little house for the different holidays, so stay tuned!!

Thank you to Behr Paint for partnering on this post.
