Mediterranean Themed Dinner Party

Mediterranean Theme

With the start of a new year I know many of us are hoping to lead a healthier lifestyle, and sometimes lavish dinner parties aren’t in line with that motto. So today I wanted to share a dinner party that does in fact line up with it, but of course still is fun a fabulous. Here is a look at my Mediterranean inspired dinner party!

It started with a love for the Mezze Platter… I mean, who can resist veggies and pita with hummus and taziki dipping sauce?! Or better yet, the combo of falafel, tabouli and greek salad! I decided to create a separate post dedicated on how I made these platters at home because they are such a fun change up to your go-to cheese platter appetizer. Post coming tomorrow!

Today I wanted to focus on the perfect table to match this Mediterranean theme; and it is one with some fun colors, texture, and patterns. To create my table I did a ton of layering!! I started by laying a beautiful blue beaded table runner from Kim Seybert down the center but any blue or bright table runner will do. For ambiance I then placed gold candle sticks on top of the runner (similar), so the table would really glow during dinner.

I did more layering at each place setting as well. I actually layered two placemats, first a white placemat and then a gold Chilewich placemat on top. Next I went over board with the golds… a white dinner plate with a gold rim, a salad plate with a gold design, and gold flatware. For the finishing touch, I topped my plates with a patterned blue napkins (similar).

For glassware I chose my blue acrylic Lenox glasses and a wine glass with a gold rim. Then rather than flowers I actually placed my mezze platters down the center of the table, which adds color and makes for easy snacking throughout dinner.

One last detail…the gold lanterns flickering on my console in the backdrop. The twinkling of the candles all around, from the table to the backdrop really make for such a romantic mood!

I created a shopping list of similar items for re-creating this table at home below. I hope you will step out of your comfort zone and give this fun theme a try!!
