It’s almost Memorial Day so today I wanted to share some fun party tips for those of you hosting…
# 1 Themed Desserts
Keeping everything in the red, white, and blue color story is essential. Transform a home-made boxed cake in seconds by decorating like I did below. Simply add a cluster of strawberries and blueberries to the top layer (choose one side of the cake rather than the whole top!), then finish with white roses and a few sprigs of greenery. Place on a white cake stand and you have Memorial Day dessert perfection.
# 2 Deck your Drinks
Themed red, white, and blue straws are a must from cocktails to water. Shop some here. Then I love serving my drinks in mason jars for that BBQ feel. Lastly, top your drinks (even water!) with sliced strawberries for a finishing touch!
# 3 Cheese Please
Even your cheese platter is a chance to add some Memorial Day spirit. Strawberries and blueberries are clearly getting a lot of play this Holiday, but also I love the combo of agave and raspberries over warmed brie! Oh and continuing with that BBQ feel, I suggest swapping your usual cheese board for something galvanized {shop this patriotic galvanized tray here}!
# 4 Seasonal Sangria
Get that taste of summer going with a beautiful and bright Sangria bar. Use martini style glasses as a stylish way to display your garnish options, and prepare a batch of pre-made sangria in a drink dispenser for easy serving! {If you are in the market for a new drink dispenser, Crate & Barrel has SO MANY good ones right now… see here!}
# 5 Prosecco Popscicles
Hosting a pool party? Whip up edible cocktails with the prettiest prosecco popsicles! Here’s how {link}!
#6 Prep your Patio
Are you ready to host? Bright pillows, fresh pool towels, and a stocked bar cart should all be on the checklist! Visit my patio tour for links to what I have on my patio!
#7 Outdoor-Friendly
Since we are headed into the summer season, it’s time to invest in a great set of melamine dishes. I fell in love with Juliska’s selection last summer and will be taking them out for another Summer’s use this Memorial Day weekend. Their Berry & Thread melamine collection looks exactly like their classic china, while their acrylic tumblers look like their traditional glassware. I love having outdoor friendly pieces that work from outdoor dinner parties to BBQs with the kids!
#8 Succulent Story
Succulents are having a huge moment and honestly it’s amazing because they are SO easy to maintain, and they last WAY longer than cut flowers. So if you are planning to set a formal table this Memorial Day, check out this fun and easy Succulent box DIY for a trending and cool centerpiece!
Hoping you have an amazing Memorial Day weekend!
