Cinco de Mayo

HOST CINCO DE MAYO Y FASHIONABLE HOSTESSMiami_2-366Miami_2-352

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I am so excited to be featured today in two Martha Stewart posts sharing a peek into my Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. Please be sure to check them out here {for the tablescape} and here {for a fun DIY pineapple centerpiece that is fab for summer-long entertaining!!}.

To create my Cinco de Mayo table that is featured, I started by laying a Chilewich Dahlia placemat at each setting. I just love the pop of gold and the added texture. To match my placemats, a set of gold flatware from West Elm makes the table feel both fun and informal without compromising on sophistication. All that’s left to add is a simple white dinner plate, a folded print napkin, and a paisley-patterned accent plate at each seat.

With this holiday, I encourage using lots of color! I chose blues for my dishes, but red, greens, or even mix and matching would be cute! Throughout the table, I sprinkled confetti from Lula Flora that reads “tequila” and “ole” or “fiesta”, which is so cute! I also got these mini donkey piñatas (tucked with treats) from Lula Flora and placed them throughout the table. They make great party favors for guests to take home with them.

For food, I whipped up a batch of homemade chicken tacos, served on a miniature wooden cutting board. I like mine in hard taco shells, filled with grilled chicken with a dash of chilli pepper, guacamole, diced tomatoes, salsa verde, and a sprinkle of mint! On the cutting boards, throughout the table, I placed lime tortilla chips with salsa and fresh limes (again, for more color and more flavor).

The finishing touch was a mini bottle of tequila at each seat! Cheers and Happy Cinco de Mayo!!
