Host a Cinco de Mayo Party

Cinco de Mayo will be here before you know it so it’s time to get in a margarita frame of mind. I’m excited to be partnering with one of my favorite snack companies, Nourish Snacks, to bring you the ultimate Cinco de Mayo dinner party set up! My table is bright and colorful with a delicious taco spread that is easy to copy if you are planning to host a Cinco de Mayo fiesta of your own. So go ahead and grab your brightest placemats, your spiciest salsa, and warm up the blender because this is gonna be one fab party!

Ok so let’s start with your Cinco de Mayo menu… I recommend a make-your-own taco bar equipped with all the essential accoutrements… fresh salsa, spicy grilled chicken, shredded lettuce, sliced radish, and Nourish Snacks Holy Habanero spiced roasted corn to sprinkle on top. Then on the table to share, over-flowing bowls of Tostitos Lime Tortilla Chips and guacamole. At each person’s seat I love a mini starter portion, so I recommend a dollop of guacamole or salsa sprinkled with Nourish Snacks Chili’n in the Corn’r citrus chili-roasted corn to enjoy with chips. Then for festive Cinco de Mayo drinks, a blended margarita is totally in order. I made home-made strawberry margaritas with a heavy handed helping of Avion Tequila. And don’t forget to place fresh sliced lime on the rim of your glasses!

Because Cinco de Mayo is a casual affair, rather than fully setting the table I recommend placing napkins and cutlery in a basket at the end of the table so guests can help themselves as they take their seats. Also at the end of the table {or on your kitchen countertop} it’s nice to place a pitcher of lime water, extra blended margarita mix {although keep an eye that it doesn’t get too slushy}, and a bottle of Tequila… because who doesn’t love a floater?!

To create my Cinco de Mayo table look I used Kim Seybert floral beaded placemats {the same ones I used in this post}, Pottery Barn Cambria Ocean dinner plates, and Cynthia Rowley melamine salad plates {similar and I also love these}. I used my C Wonder chevron glasses for margaritas {here’s a cute polka dot option from Kate Spade} and glass carafes for water with lime. My centerpiece was small arrangement of yellow tea roses in a Robert Siegel Studio vase {obsessed with this pop of color}, and the small bowls for my taco station sides were a mix of West Elm and Bed Bath and Beyond dip bowls. I placed a heaping pile of soft tacos on this Pottery Barn plate. The napkins were a mix of C Wonder and Pier1 {these are also a cute option} which I placed in a metal basket from World Market.

All that’s left is some good music and a little sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

  1. Oh my gosh, I love love those glasses. I think my bar needs a little updating. Cinco is one of those holidays that is just so laid back. It’s a great excuse to spend all afternoon eating with friends. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration. Happy Friday!
