Last week I created the most adorable winter wonderland dessert buffet. What I love about this spread is that it’s incredibly versatile. Whether you are hosting a winter baby shower, a kid’s birthday, or even a fancy dinner party, these desserts work for everyone. One of my favorite tricks is to incorporate flowers in unexpected places throughout the mix, like the rose I placed on the coconut cake or the carnation I placed on top of the powdered donut tower. Of course then a sweet and simple arrangement alongside the buffet finishes off the look.
To create the spread I really had a lot of fun with cake stands. There is something about using various stands in different heights for desserts that don’t usually require a cake stand (ie. the cookies here) that I think adds a touch of elegance. Don’t own matching? No problem! You can mix and match with different colors and styles depending on the event – it would be super cute todo a mix of colored stands for a kid’s birthday party, while for today I chose a mixture of white styles and glass. {I chose an array of cute ones to shop at the bottom of this post!}
To serve I picked up snowflake cookies from local bakery The Frosted Affair, coconut cake from Whole Foods {I love coconut cake year round and the sprinkled coconut looks like snow to me, so works perfect for winter!}, I created towers of glazed and powdered donuts which I got at the supermarket, and lastly I served milk with donut straws {the DIY is here on the blog}. I know it almost looks too pretty to eat… ‘almost’ being the key word!
