If you have spent some time reading up on the hottest summer trends, you would know that ‘black and white’ is huge right now. But black for summer? My reaction exactly. So how do you take this trend to real life without shvitzing in the summer heat? This little lace BCBG Maxazria dress offered the perfect solution – lightweight, short, low back – done and done.
When I first saw this dress, I immediately thought of it for night, but by adding some natural colored accessories like my Bottega Veneta bag and Joie shoes {on GILT – such a score}, the look can totally go either way! Another way I toned it down for day was by styling my hair in a messy low bun (bonus – more opportunity to tan your back and arms with your hair out of the way!) Also, by wearing simple accessories, like myPhillips House Pendant Necklace and vintage bangle, the look feels effortless.
While I usually love a flowy look, I wanted to add a little shape, so I took a black stretch belt and lined it up to the black stripe. The key to belting a dress and making it flattering is to loop the belt around the area that is slimmest – I did mine right in the middle of my tummy! All I needed to finish off the look were my C.Wonder cateye sunnies.
And there you have it, black and white stylista on the move!
