Saint Tropez Guide
Saint Tropez is a gorgeous town in the French Riviera where we headed after a few days in Paris to soak up some sun and relax. We stayed at a beautiful hotel with a panoramic view, ate fresh fish daily, explored the cute town and shops, and drank endless Aperol Spritzes. I wanted to share a few highlight from our 2 and half day visit.
Saint Tropez is know for its beach clubs. Beach clubs are usually a restaurant alongside a beach with beds for tanning. You can rent day beds on the beach by the hour and then can enjoy a fresh lunch and by fresh I mean literally the seafood tastes fresh out of the ocean. Two beach clubs I recommend are Le Club 55 + Les Palmiers. Both known for their people watching, fab food, and cool decor.
The town of Saint-Tropez is famous for it’s port (aka marina) where some of the fanciest yatchs in the world are docked. It’s a lively area with restaurants and gelato. Every time a new boat pulls in, people gather around to cheer. The yatchs are enormous and incredible. I highly recommend visiting this area in the evening as many of the boats are lit up and it’s not too hot.
While the town of Saint Tropez is small and quaint, I was VERY impressed with the quality of the shopping. In most beach towns I have visited, the shops are typical souvenir shops, while in Saint Tropez you find designer boutiques and some fabulous French stores. I highly recommend an afternoon of shopping once you have soaked up enough sun.
All of the restaurants I ate at in Saint Tropez were fabulous, and I especially loved the decor. One restaurant in particular, La Petit Plage, which is right on the port overlooking the boats, was my favorite. The decor was incredible with a ceiling full of gorgeous rattan lanterns and there was even a sand floor so you felt like you were on a beach…. the menu is fresh with delicious seafood options from yellowtail sashimi to mussels.
While there are many hotels within walking distance of the town, we chose one that was about a five minute drive. Why? Because it sat on a cliff and had the most incredible views overlooking the whole town. I highly recommend the Althoff Villa Belrose Saint Tropez for the incredible accommodations, the pool, and the service!
