Dinner Party Spotlight: House of Harper

I am so excited to share this beautiful traditional table styled by Caroline Harper Knapp of  House of Harper, as we head into the final stretch of Thanksgiving prep! With a knack for entertaining as well as styling beautiful interiors {I love her home tours!}, Caroline created a tablescape that is swoon-worthy, while embracing gorgeous rich tones of the Fall season. Read on for an interview with the newest FH Dinner party series guest and pin away as you take your final notes before the Holiday!

Q & A:

FH: Tell me a quick bio of how you came to start House of Harper?

Caroline: I started blogging in 2011 when I was working as a buyer in New York City.  I was cast to host a new series we were testing, Gilt TV.  Each week, I would have a different co-host and a few of them were local NYC bloggers.  After meeting them and hearing about their career paths, I was intrigued!  A few months later, I started my own personal style blog.  By 2013, my side business had grown and we welcomed our first son, Knox.  At this time, I decided not to go back to my corporate career and to exclusively pursue House of Harper and being a new mom.

In my seven years of blogging, I have had the honor to work with so many brands I admire and even appear in my favorite national publications. I never knew work could be so fun.

FH: How would you describe your blog?

Caroline: House of Harper is the one-stop destination for living with style – from interior design to travel, parenthood to fashion – and all of the stops in between!

We think of ourselves as our readers.  If there is a topic we are discussing, researching or thinking about, it’s a topic we want to cover on HoH.

FH: What is your entertaining style? Traditional, Contemporary, Seasonal?

Caroline: My entertaining style, and style in general, is a mix of my traditional Texas roots with some modern flare picked up during our time living in New York City.  I like pretty, aspirational things, but don’t have the time or budget for it all the time so we love to mix high and low, but never anything too over the top!

FH: How often do you entertain and for how many guests?

Caroline: I love to entertain!  We do it monthly – sometimes small get-togethers with my mom friends, and sometimes seated dinner parties for 12+.

FH: Do you have a go-to recipe or dish or cocktail {or do you avoid cooking at all costs}?

Caroline: I hosted my first formal dinner party since living in our new house earlier this year and I shared all the recipes here.  I prefer to cook because it feels more personal when having people over to your home, but we have hosted many last-minute evenings where we simply pick up Tex-Mex!

FH: Did something inspire you for today’s table?

Caroline: Today’s table was inspired by fall – I love the contrast of the deep purples with the pale pinks.

FH: What’s your favorite element in today’s tablescape?

Caroline: It’s all about the details.  A simple fig placed on the salad plate with a hand written place card is such a simple, but memorable touch!

FH: If you could give one party tip for readers what would it be?

Caroline: Prep as much as you can the night before and just have fun!

FH: Table top… Share all the deets!!
