Coastal Family Room

Lake House Home Tour

Welcome to our Lake House famiIy room. As you open our front door to enter the house, you immediately take in this room and the beautiful view of the lake behind these french doors. I wanted our family and guests to enter to a sense of calm, as if they were entering a coastal bed and breakfast retreat. To bring this vibe to life I incorporated lots of soft blues to compliment the lake, as well as nautical elements like the rattan accents throughout. While the room definitely feels elegant, it still feels warm and inviting with plenty of seating (all 4 chairs on swivel to take in the conversation or the view) and a big coffee table with plenty of space for displaying my favorite coffee table books or for placing wine glasses as we lounge. Read on for more about my favorite elements in the room.

A few of my favorite things …

The Palmetto Coffee Table from Cailini Coastal is just perfection. I love the grasscloth material, making it much dressier and more elegant than other traditional coffee tables, but also keeping with the coastal vibe. I also love the size. It is large enough to display many coffee table books, pictures, flowers and more.

The Mariana 6 Light Chandelier from Capitol Lighting is gorgeous and such a standout. The large tiered size fills the room nicely while still being open and airy and not obstructing from the beautiful view. Meanwhile the rattan-wrapped texture matches perfectly with coastal vibe of the house and is a perfect match to the coffee table.

The Sabrina Soto Rug from Rugs.com is a beautiful light blue with a geometric pattern in contrasting ivory. It is shed resistant and a great rug for highly trafficked areas. I also have to highlight the AMAZING price for a rug that is 9×12. I had taken photos of the room before the rug arrived and I kept saying it was missing something, then day the rug arrived I knew the room finally felt complete.
