New Years at Home

This New Years we are actually ditching the big parties and festivities for a low key night with friends and family at my mom’s home in Miami. Ordering in dinner, watching the ball drop on TV, and of course lots of wine and champagne.

A lover of white wine, I recently have become a huge fan of Sancerre. Sancerre is a French white wine mostly commonly associated with Sauvignon Blanc. Similar to Sauvignon Blanc it is considered dry, but a bit bolder with hints of fruit. My husband and I first found the wine because he loved Sauvignon Blanc and I liked Pinot Grigio, and it seemed to be a happy middle.  Lately I have been turned on to the brand “Chateau de Sancerre” by Terlato Wines {which actually originates from the Château de Sancerre, the only castle in the Sancerre area}, so I am excited to be serving it for friends over the Holiday!

For set-up we thought the best place to decorate would be my mom’s coffee table. A focal point for when guests enter the living room, plus the spot where most of the action will be congregated. We created a cute little display of festive New Years decorations, mostly from Etsy {I love this decorations set, and for you last minute shoppers, it’s printable so no shipping required!}. I then placed a few chilled bottles of the “Chateau de Sancerre” out alongside stemless wine glasses {I love ones with gold detailing for the New Year, here is a similar option}, served with striped straws and sparkly gold coasters.

Then for food, we will serve a lavish cheese board, and for dinner we will order in Joe’s Stone Crabs {a Miami staple!}. Of course Sancerre is a perfect match for cheese and seafood, so it will be a delicious combo! Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
