Packing your Hospital Bag to Take Home your Baby

Packing your Hospital Bag

Well ladies and gents, the time has come… with less than 3 weeks to go Baby Gluck could be making his/her debut any day now! In preparation for the big trip to the hospital, I have all of my bags packed! After much research (and consulting with experienced Mom’s) I think I have everything I need (fingers crossed!)

Here is what I packed…

For Mamma:

  • Insurance information, hospital forms and pediatrician’s contact info.
  • 2-3 pairs of warm socks that can get ruined (for walking the halls before and after labor) and Slippers {I love my fur lined Uggs}.
  • A warm ‘open’ sweater, meaning no zips or buttons. Essentially something you can throw on over your hospital gown. A few favorites are this, this and this.
  • Maternity bra & comfortable underwear
  • Shower shoes/Flip flops
  • Comfortable going-home clothes: I packed 4 comfortable/soft/oversized tops: one Splendid flannel button down, the Karen Tee – a burnout jersey top that is loose-fitting and super soft by NationLTD, one loose grey ¾ sleeve top from H &M , and one short sleeve worn-in tunic top by Bar III. One pair of loose cotton straight leg sweatpants from Gap Body.
  • Cell phone and charger (camera if you don’t have an iPhone)
  • Snacks (more so for your husband)

Toiletries (in Travel-Size Bottles):

  • Aquaphor
  • Toothbrush, Toothpaste, & Mouthwash
  • Deodorant
  • Face wash: travel size Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
  • Makeup Remover Cloths: I love the Natural Hawaiian 3-in-1-Clean Towelettes in pineapple enzyme by Alba Botanica. Even if I can’t get up to wash my face I can do a quick wipe to remove makeup, cleanse and tone.
  • Shampoo, Conditioner, BodyWash & Body Lotion Set. I love the Travel Set from Bee Kind because the lemon smell works for you or your husband and all of your shower needs comes stored in a clear waterproof tote.
  • Face Lotion (Recovery by L’Oreal Youth Code will be a must!) & Laura Mercier Repair Eye Cream because god knows the circle under my eyes will be at an all-time high!
  • Hairbrush/Round Brush, Hair Dryer, & Hair Product (Post- wash, applying a little Minardi Subdue Styling Creme dramatically eases frizz if I decide to wash and style my hair)– doubt I will be using it, but why not bring just in case?! Or if no time for washing, travel size Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo
