New Years Celebration with Lillet

This New Years Eve we are having friends over to our house for an intimate celebration. I wanted to create a festive bar and dessert display for the evening, and thus, this creation came to life! Gold balloons, an array of fabulous desserts and of course delicious cocktails.

You probably remember I recently made a “Lillet Spritz” for Christmas {see the display here} and guests LOVED it, so I wanted to whip up something similar for New Years. An aperitif wine, Lillet is made from Bourdeaux grapes along with macerated fruit liqueurs, which gives it a fruity and pleasantly sweet taste, so I thought it would be an exciting alternative to the usual New Years champagne.

A little bit about my display… since it is a New Years party, I really wanted the decor to be golds! I started with a whole bunch of gold balloons which I hung in the backdrop to my display. Then the cocktail was key. I served Lillet Blanc {super chilled} with fresh lemon juice and a splash of soda. Since the club soda gave it a bit of fizz, I served my drinks in stemless champagne flutes that say “Cheers” in gold in a variety of languages from Z Gallerie.

Then for desserts I took out all my glass cake stands in varying heights {I always do this so it’s easier to see all of your options!}. I created the macaron “cake” display by stacking vanilla and chocolate macarons and then building them into a cake. Then I made mini chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting and sprinkled them with gold sugar. I am obsessed with gold sugar for New Years.

A fun party detail I recently picked up is my Happy New Year sign. I have been using this letter board a ton lately, from my husband’s birthday dinner, to a menu board, and so on. Lastly, fun coasters, party sticks and chocolate Ferrero Roche complete the look. I would say we are ready for 2018!
