Host Hanukkah Dinner

Isn’t it so nice that Hanukkah and Christmas fall over the same weekend? Compared to previous years where I am rushing to get gifts and decorate, I have had what feels like a full season to get festive and prepare!! We are planning to host an array of Hanukkah celebrations of the course of the eight days, but I wanted to create a pretty dinner for the first night to kick off the celebration.

I have to say that in shopping for this Hanukkah tablescape I was incredibly disappointed at all the cheesy decorations out there… the only cute thing I found really was this “Happy Hanukkah” sign at Target. So rather than going overboard with “Hanukkah themed” pieces, I stuck to an elegant display of blue and whites. I placed a Chilewich table runner (I needed two to cover the whole table) down the center with three glass hurricanes by Simon Pearce on top. Then I used blue Villeroy & Boch chargers and blue Villeroy and Boch glasses with simple white dishes. The finishing touch were these silver and white ikat napkins from West Elm – I felt like the table needed a little pop in there! Over on my buffet I did more candles – aren’t these mercury pillar ones from Frontgate so pretty (and a great price!)! Right in front of the candles I sprinkled some gold gelt and dreidels which I have been trying my hardest to keep the kids away from until the first night!

Wishing you and your families a lovely Hanukkah with lots of latkes and gelt!
