Dane’s Grey & White Nursery

The nursery is complete and came out more serene then I could have ever imagined! Planning a nursery when you don’t know the sex can be tough so I stuck with a very neutral palette working with hues of grey! The end result though came out so beautiful, perfectly gender neutral, and calming {essential with a newborn!}!!ย Since shooting the room we had our little angel, baby Boy Dane, so now we can easily add pops of blue when the baby comes home.

In case you forgot, this room used to be my office {see the tour here}. I had no drapery, a different light fixture, and clearly, no baby furniture, so there was a lot to be done.

My inspiration began when I came across theย Franklin & Ben Everly Cribย andย Amelia Double Dresser. Perfectly neutral with beautiful detailing, I loved the pieces right away. I then found this gorgeous persian rug on Overstock {theย Overstock NuLoomย rug}; it really influenced the grey feel in the room and since it was so large {7’10” x 10′}, it covered most of the dark wood floor. Then the simple but elegant Textured Shade Light Fixture from Land of Nod felt much more appropriate for a baby’s room than my previous light fixture. But the most important element of all was the stunning drapery I chose from The Shade Store. I absolutely love the windows in this room and did not want to hide them completely, but of course needed a blackout solution for the baby’s early bedtime and naps. I ended up choosing Pinch Pleat Drapes with a beautiful Ivory Linen Scatter Dot Fabric {from the Kate Spade Collection – here} with a black out lining, which was hung from a stainless steel bar. The Shade Store was more than a pleasure to work with through the process, helping with renderings, understanding my vision for fabric, and creating something that worked perfectly for the room!

The finishing touches were what made the room super sweet, like theย Elephant Mobile fromย Restoration Hardware Baby & Childย that I hung above the crib and theย Hanging Shelf from Pottery Barn Kids {similar} which I filled with little toys above the glider chair. If you take a look back at the before {here}, you may also notice I painted the door and changed out the door hardware to Schlage polished nickel knobs to match the rest of my house… a subtle change but again, fit with the softness of the room! Then I filled ourย Leaning Shelf {similar} with some sweet baby essentials {see my list below at the bottom of the post!}.

Looking forward to Dane seeing his beautiful room! See all of the pieces I used to fill the room below!
