Making Economical Updates to your Space

White & Sleek Living Room with Barcelona Chair

If you are anything like me, you get the constant itch to make updates to your home each season. Maybe it’s flipping through magazines or maybe it’s coming across a cool piece in a home store, but like clockwork, the season changes and my home immediately feels off trend and needs revamping. Sometimes it can be fulfilled by rearranging the layout and furniture, which my husband loves (NOT!) as I have him move the couch for third time, but other times it requires getting out the wallet. Of course making drastic seasonal purchases can be costly, so I have become an expert at finding budget-friendly ways to to fulfill this burning desire for change (well it’s that or finding a new husband!). Surprisingly enough, a few of these economical solutions (all of my suggestions are under $250!) can really add that something extra, so I hope one of these ideas speaks to you and inspires you!

Mod Floor Lamp from West ElmWest Elm Adjustable Metal Floor Lamp Invest in a cool floor lamp. I bought the West Elm Adjustable Metal Floor Lamp for $229.00, which is a great source of light, easily adjustable – I placed mine on the tallest setting, and looks really cool and sleek.

Spring couch Pillows - Chevron Pillows

Buy new accent pillows for your couch. I love chevron in pop colors for Spring and Summer, so I went with a bright set of two I picked up on Gilt (sorry, no longer available, but I chose some similar options for you to shop below!). Either make sure the color coordinates back with what you currently have (I matched mine back to my neutral Calypso St. Barth Dove Sheesha Silk Pillow), or put away the ones you have and display the new ones solo; you can always bring your old ones back out next season!

Shop Pillows:

Coffee Table Book CollectionOpalescent Magnifying Glass

Buy a cool magnifying glass to place on top of a stack of coffee table books or magazines. Suddenly a pile of messy books look purposeful!

Shop Magnifying Glasses:

John Robshaw picture frame Buy new picture frames and actually PRINT pictures (a lost novelty) to put in them. I love pictures because they tell a story about you. Print photos that make you laugh and smile, and then use fun frames to display them! I like to stagger ones in different shapes and colors like above!

Shop Picture Frames:

White Orchid

Buy an orchid! Orchids in my opinion are by far the most elegant flower with the added perk of lasting forever (potted in my living room with minimum light, water or attention, they can last 3-4 weeks!).
